Description
Dendrite Agate
A type of chalcedony, dendritic agates can have a milky body tone, and also appear translucent to opaque. A milky base creates a beautiful contrast between the dark brown to black inclusions.
The stone’s inclusions, called “dendrites,” are a crystaline mixture of manganese or iron oxide minerals that were trapped inside the gemstone when the agate formed. Slowly, over millions of years, a fractal, tree-like crystal lattice patterns forms inside the crystal structure.
The crystalline growths fern like patterns echo trees, leafy plants and pastoral rural landscapes.
Tumbled stone from Brazil
