Description
Extra Large Goniatite Button Fossil
The Goniatite internal fossil structure shows patterns made by the ‘sutures’ that connect the different body chambers in the shell.
Goniatites were sea living creatures relatives of squid and octopus and went extinct at the end of the Permian period around 250 million years ago.
Like trilobites and related ammonites, Goniatites are used as index fossils for dating different periods of time.
